KyoDaiko performed on Saturday, April 17 at The Creative Living Room in Swarthmore as part of their Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival. This family friendly event featured koto music, traditional Japanese “kamishibai” storytelling, origami, and of course, taiko! KyoDaiko performed pieces, talked to the children about the drums and how taiko drumming is used in Japanese festivals, then got the crowd to participate by shouting “kiai” with the performers. Curious future taiko drummers then stepped up to try their hand at playing the big drums!
